Government Workers Put on Leave After Taking Diversity Training Course

Government employees who attended a diversity training course that the former Education Secretary endorsed during President Trump’s first administration are being placed on paid leave as part of Trump’s campaign against DEI. The president of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 252 says at least 55 of her union’s workers have been placed on paid leave so far and she expects that number to grow. Those workers span various roles and ranks, including public affairs specialists, civil rights attorneys, analysts, loan regulators and more. Sheria Smith says "It looks like they’re entrapping people, because they encouraged people to take these trainings ... and are now maybe using these trainings as a basis to put them on administrative leave.” She speculates that it’s a strategy so that “employees will eliminate themselves.”(NBC News)
