The State Department is giving the green light to a potential $10.5 billion arms deal with Poland. The plan calls for delivery of an air and missile defense system with components from major U.S. defense contractors like Northrop Grumman and Lockheed-Martin. The package includes advanced radar, command and control capabilities and more than 200 Patriot missiles. Congress must still give final approval to the sale to a foreign military.
The State Department says the sale helps the national security objectives of the U.S. through support of a NATO ally.
