Lil Wayne is teasing "something very special" that will be revealed ahead of Super Bowl weekend.
The NOLA native got fans hyped up on Tuesday, February 4, after he posted a video he posted to his Instagram Story. In it, Weezy confirmed he won't be in his hometown for the big game and said he's got "something exciting coming for you." He told fans to save the date for Thursday, February 6, which is just a few days before Super Bowl LIX.
"Y'all know I'm not going to be there this week, which means I guess there's a seat to fill," Wayne began.
"Shout out to New Orleans but I've been working on something very special," he continued. "I got something exciting coming for you Thursday, the 6th. Until then... I'm chillin'."
There's no word on what Lil Wayne has up his sleeve, but one thing is for sure. He won't be a surprise guest during Kendrick Lamar's anticipated Super Bowl Halftime Show. Some fans predicted Tunechi would magically appear after JAY-Z's Roc Nation and the NFL chose K.Dot over Wayne to headline the performance. Although he felt hurt about the situation, Wayne previously told Skip Bayless he spoke to Kendrick and resolved their issues. He also said he wouldn't be in the country for the big game.
It's also possible that Lil Wayne could give fans an update on his upcoming album Tha Carter VI. Wayne has been dropping hints about the next installment of his popular album series since 2020. After he confirmed the album is in the works in 2022, Weezy "guaranteed" the album would arrive this year during a recent interview. He dropped Tha Carter V in 2018 following his high-profile legal battle with Birdman. Since then, he's released several projects including Funeral (2020), Trust Fund Babies with Rich The Kid (2021), Welcome 2 Collegrove with 2 Chainz (2023) and Tha Fix Before Tha VI (2023).
Stay tuned to find out what Lil Wayne has in store for 2025.
