Snoop Dogg is continuing to downplay his rumored feud with Eminem.
Speaking on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Sunday (January 17), the 49-year-old rapper addressed the tension between him and Em after being asked about Eminem's diss track "Zeus," which calls Snoop out for disrespecting him.
“We still friends,” Snoop said. “I think that’s family business and I don’t want to make it more than what it is." He added, “[Eminem] said what he said [on ‘Zeus’], I respect that, we just going to keep it right there. It’s family business.”
As fans know, the two had a public fallout last Summer. Back in July, when Snoop did an interview with “The Breakfast Club,” he stated that Eminem was not deserving of a spot in his top 10 MCs.
"[Dr. Dre] probably put Eminem in the position that he would be considered one of the top 10 rappers ever," Snoop said. "I don’t think so, but the game thinks that he’s a top 10 lyricist and everything that comes with it. That’s just because he’s with Dr. Dre." He added that he could “live without” Eminem's music.
Snoop's comments seemed to get under Eminem's skin enough that he chose to clapback at the LA rapper on his track “Zeus,” which is off his latest project, Music to Be Murdered By – Side B.
"And, as far as squashing beef, I'm used to people knocking me/But, just not in my camp," Em rapped on the track. "And diplomatic as I'm tryna be/Last thing I need is Snoop dogging me/Man, Dogg, you was like a (Yeah) damn god to me/Nah, not really (Haha)/I had 'dog' backwards/But I'm starting to think, all these people takin' shots at me/Sh*t, it's no wonder."
Eminem later opened up about his diss in an interview, saying "Everything [Snoop} said, by the way, was fine, up to a point." He added, "Him saying Dre made the best version of me, absolutely, why would I have a problem with that? Would I be here without Dre? F**k no, I wouldn’t ... I think it was more about the tone he was using that caught me off-guard ‘cause I'm like, where is this coming from? I just saw you, what the f**k? It threw me for a loop."
The Detroit-native made a point to note that it was one particular comment that really pissed him off. “I probably could've gotten past the whole tone and everything, but it was the last statement where he said, 'Far as music I can live without, I can live without that sh*t.' Now you’re being disrespectful," he explained.
Snoop later addressed Em's interview in an Instagram comment, replying to a post that asked fans if they believed Snoop's "I can live without" Eminem's music comment was disrespectful. “Pray I don’t answer that soft a** Sh*t," he commented.
Earlier this month, however, Snoop claimed that his beef with Em had been squashed. When a fan shared a throwback photo of the two rappers with Dr. Dre alongside the caption, "I wonder what changed ...," referring to the legendary rapper's so-called beef, Snoop commented, “Nothing we good.”
