Washington Local Schools Superintendent Resigns

TOLEDO, Ohio - The superintendent of Washington Local School has submitted her resignation.

WTOL 11 reports Susan Hayward announced she was stepping down at Wednesday night's school board meeting. The Board voted 4-1 to release her from her contract with the district. Hayward said she was stepping down to pursue other employment opportunities.

Hayward joined the district in 2016 and had three years remaining on her contract that ran through 2022. Her last day as superintendent will be August 15. She will remain with a district as a consultant until October to help with the transition to a new superintendent. An interim superintendent is expected to be named next week.
