Napoleon Company to Help Examine Church Steeple

(Toledo, OH) A Northwest Ohio company will help determine whether a historic Toledo church can be saved.

A Napoleon firm is donating its time today to help the Lucas County Land Bank assess the condition of the steeple atop historic St. Anthony's Catholic Church, part of the process of determining whether the building can be saved from demolition.

W-R Meyers specializes in so-called “steeplejack” services, including the assessment and maintenance of church steeples and towers. The close look at the steeple's condition this afternoon will help the land bank decide whether to take up a diocese donation of the church and property where it sits along Nebraska Avenue.

The land bank has to decide by early next week or allow the demolition to continue.
