Port of Toledo Sees Rise in Cargo in 2017

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Port of Toledo was busier in 2017.

WTOL 11 reports the amount of cargo that moved through the Port of Toledo last year was up nearly 16% over 2016.

Port officials say more than 9.6 million of tons of cargo came through the port last year, lead by an increase in iron ore shipments. Those accounted for more than one-third for the shipping that came though. Officials expect that number to climb in the coming years with a new plant opening in the area in 2020.
